Day 21: January 29, 2023

Day 21
Take a moment to pause, be still, and prepare your heart and mind to receive God’s word.
Today’s Scripture:
The Great Commission
16 Then the eleven disciples left for Galilee, going to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him—but some of them doubted!
18 Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. 19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations,[a] baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:16-20 NLT
Any avid readers in the room? Book worms? Bibliophiles?
Everyone loves to learn. Books may or may not be your thing (maybe you dig into video game tier lists or something), but loving learning is a human thing.
Jesus calls us to be “disciples,” which is a Greek term for being a student (or learner). What Jesus is meaning is that as His followers, we study our Savior and learn to be more like Him. (In fact, this is the passage from which Summit gains its mission: that we are disciples that make disciples!) Simply put, to be like Jesus is to be made free. In Him, we find a new way of life; one that discovers hope and longing that reach beyond our lives and this world. We have the hope of Heaven, where Jesus currently sits on a throne at the right hand of God.
And as the angels sing around the throne, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty!” So shall our lives declare until the day that Jesus returns to this world (and Jesus, return soon!)
Reflect
As these 21 days come to a close, what has God revealed to you? What new truths or revelations have become clear to you over the past three weeks?
Pray
As a family, ask that Jesus return soon. Ask that He reveal ways that you can be a part of the Kingdom this week. Take a moment to imagine the throne room of Heaven and say, “holy, holy, holy is that Lord God almighty!”
Family Moment
Go around the circle and share one thing that you’ve learned about God over these last three weeks.
