Summit Premarital

We are honored to walk alongside couples as they seek to build their future marriage on Jesus Christ. As you make this promise to one another, you are reflecting the promise God has made to us! Marriage is a beautiful opportunity to “walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us.” (Eph. 5:2)

Premarital FAQ

Our premarital groups consist of one mentor couple and 1-3 premarital/engaged couples. Our groups launch on a rolling basis, so there is no consistent start date. When you and your fiance register, we will work to place you in a premarital group. On average, most premarital couples begin their mentoring within 2 to 6 weeks of their registration. Your premarital group will work together to find a day/time to meet, so it is flexible to your schedule! Once you start, premarital takes 6-8 weeks to complete, depending on your group.

The first step of our premarital process is to fill out the Premarital Interest Form. Once completed, Pastor Kelsey will schedule a meeting to get to know you as a couple and talk through any questions you might have about our program. After you meet with Pastor Kelsey, you will be sent a link to register for premarital mentoring.

We recommend that you begin this process at least 4 months prior to your wedding date. This will give us enough time to meet with you, place you in a group, and finish your premarital sessions before your wedding. If you have less than 4 months before your wedding date, please fill out the interest form as soon as possible.

Our premarital material is The Meaning of Marriage by Tim and Kathy Keller, and the accompanying workbook and videos. The content primarily discusses God’s intent for marriage. Our heart and desire is for you and your future spouse to be set up on the strongest foundation possible: Jesus Christ.

Couples will also take a SYMBIS Assessment. This marriage assessment is a tool to help you prepare not just for any marriage, but your specific marriage. This will be utilized by your mentors alongside The Meaning of Marriage.

Please note: all premarital mentoring materials will be provided by Summit and are included in the cost of your registration. You do not need to purchase them on your own!

Our mentors are faithful men and women of God who have a deep desire to invest in the next generation of Jesus followers. They volunteer their time to serve couples in this unique season of life – we are excited for you to meet them! Please note, Summit Premarital is a mentorship program; we do not provide counseling services. Our mentor couples are not licensed marriage counselors.

Summit requires all couples who are married by a Summit pastor to go through premarital mentoring. You can request a Summit pastor to officiate during the registration stage of the premarital process. Please start by filling out the Premarital Interest Form. If you have any questions, you may email kelsey@summitspokane.com.
