Day 16: Tuesday, January 23, 2024

Written by Pastor Rory

Take a moment to pause, be still, and prepare your heart and mind to receive God’s word.

READ: Jeremiah 52:31-32

He’s been in prison for 37 years. He’s languished there for so long. Finally a new king comes to the throne. And he makes a decision to release Jehoiachim from his bondage. And, after 37 years, this is a pretty broken man. The picture we get is that of kneeling before the king; bowed down with his head hung low. And the king does the unexpected. He physically lifts the head of Jehoiachim and presents to him his freedom. I can only imagine the flood of mixed emotions when the realization hits him. Now; in your mind’s eye; superimpose Jesus and you. Let the truth of Psalm 3:3 become reality for you.

Psalm 3:3 But You, O LORD, are a shield for me, My glory and the One who lifts up my head.

Whatever chains keep you from being fully with Jesus can be eliminated by your King and Lord as He lifts your head; looks you in the eye; and declares that you are free.

REFLECT:
Take some time for personal inventory and honestly bring whatever it is that holds you to the back from experiencing Jesus. Now picture Jesus lifting your head and reminding you that you are his son or daughter whom he loves.

PRAY:
Talk to God with no defense; no pretense; no more hiding. Receive His full pardon and forgiveness.

FAMILY MOMENT:
Talk about the ways sin takes hold of our lives and hangs on. Go to Jesus with humility and honesty. Receive grace for the moment.
