Day 12: Friday, January 19, 2024

Written by Pastor Hailee

Take a moment to pause, be still, and prepare your heart and mind to receive God’s word.

READ: 1 Peter 2:4-6

I have a five year old, and you know what five year olds like to do? Legos. I personally struggle with Legos. I don’t understand how all those tiny, odd pieces go together perfectly to make something amazing. My husband and son spend hours finding the right piece and placing it in the correct spot and a masterpiece comes alive! This imagery came to mind when I read about the stones being used for God’s temple. In the scripture today it talks about Jesus as the living stone, the cornerstone that was once rejected but now is the perfect foundation, He is alive and He is working. It also talks about you and I as living stones, used to build God’s spiritual temple. Just like a lego masterpiece, every little piece matters. We are his holy priests called to do his holy work.

When we see Christ as the firm foundation and the living stones of our lives, it’s like all the little lego pieces coming together for a masterpiece.

REFLECT:
What is something in your life that may be acting as a foundation instead of Jesus?

PRAY:
Jesus, I need you. I desire for you to be the cornerstone of my life. Reveal to me the things that I look to instead of you and help me surrender them and trust you fully as the cornerstone of my life.

FAMILY MOMENT:
Get the lego’s out or any building toy you have and try to build something with a firm solid foundation, then try the opposite, maybe use paper or a wooden block or book as a foundation and see the difference. Talk about how it is the strongest when Christ is our foundation.
