Day 11: Putting on God’s Armor

Today’s Scripture:

Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints.
Ephesians 6:14-18

Additional Scriptures:
1 Peter 4:12-13
2 Corinthians 10:3-4

Prayer + Reflection

  1. Think about different hardships you face daily that putting on the armor of God would help. Ask God specifically to put each piece on you as you go about your day today.
  2. The darkness of the world can be overwhelming at times. How can God’s armor protect you against feeling overcome with sin? Intercede for those struggling around you.
  3. Remember that God is glorified when we depend on Him and feel joy in spite of our trials. Pray and thank God for the things bringing you joy today (this week) and ask Him to make you a conduit of that joy.

Family Moment

Talk about some reasons you might need spiritual armor every day. Discuss the importance of each item from Ephesians 6 and how they help us withstand temptation and face hardships. Consider memorizing over the next few days each element of the armor of God together.
